Indicative and ad-hoc - Fire Resistance Testing
Due to the on-going nature of product and/or application development, and the ability of product/test standards and guidelines to keep up, scenarios can often occur whereby it is necessary to undertake indicative fire testing to the general principles of an existing standard or perhaps even to a bespoke ad-hoc regime.
Often too it will be required to verify a relatively minor constructional or component change from the specification in a previous test. Such evidence can prove invaluable for the purpose of product certification and increasing scope of approval.
Cambridge Fire Research (CFR) also recognises the need for confidential and economical product development, and is able to offer a wide variety of tailored test options to suit most needs. The temperature/pressure regime for furnace tests may be adopted from British, European, US or International standards, as required, or be client-specified to suit a particular purpose. To minimise costs the normal aspects of specimen verification, use of instrumentation (e.g. thermocouples and radiometer), supply of data and formal reporting are all optional. The following gives just a few examples of the type of products and tests that CFR have been involved with. For further guidance please consult us.
