Who we are

Cambridge Fire Research (CFR) was established in 2005 as an independent fire resistance test laboratory, but has roots going back over 30 years. Our core focus is Quality – from our technical knowledge on first contact, through to our detailed survey and documentation of test specimens and our robust test reports. Our reports are widely accepted for conformity assessment, 3rd party certification, etc.

We understand the need for a versatile and flexible approach and will always strive to accommodate changing circumstances as they arise. Key to our success is a dedicated team of well qualified, knowledgeable and experienced staff, who can always be approached for help and advice. Above all comes recognition of the trust put in us by our clients to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and to operate with the underlying values of impartiality, fairness, honesty and integrity.

CFR has UKAS accreditation for a variety of fire test standards and is an Approved Body (No. 2337) UKCA for testing under the Construction Products Regulation. As such, its test evidence is acceptable for the purposes of 3rd-party approvals (e.g. Q-Mark, Certifire and IFCC), UKCA marking and UL certification.

CFR are also members of EGOLF and the Fire Test Study Group (FTSG).
